Flamingo Candles Love Bug

Flamingo Candles Love Bug Glitter Valentine Candle* - £12

For Valentine's Day 2014 Flamingo Candles brought out their incredible Love Potion candle. I honestly didn't think they would be able to top it's delicious sugary sweet scent but boy have they proved me wrong! Love Bug is this year's Valentine candle and it's fragrance is on a whole 'nother level. Apparently Love Bug combines blends of mandarin & petitgrain with subtle undertones of cinnamon. I found this description quite strange because I was sent a very festive Arran Aromatics mandarin & petitgrain candle at Christmas & these two candles couldn't smell any more different. Love Bug is certainly fruity but sugar is the pervasive note here. To me it smells like a cross between strawberry sherbet and rhubarb & custards. It's even sicklier than Love Potion was & I'm absolutely loving it! Love Potion reminded me of being in a sweet shop whereas Love Bug is more like stuffing your face with a huge bag of pick 'n' mix. The fragrance is so much more powerful & gives you an intense hit of sugar without the excess calories.

This candle doesn't just smell amazing but it looks really beautiful too. I'm completely obsessed with Flamingo Candles' unique square jar packaging. My whole mantlepiece is full of them now! The combination of the candy coloured waxes & their signature acrylic Florrie flamingos is just way too cute. Love Bug looks even more special because they've added purple glitter to the baby pink candle wax. When the wax begins to melt it changes into a hot pink shade & the glitter floating within simply looks stunning. Love Bug was made using hand-poured EcoSoya soy wax and features a natural cotton wick resulting in a cleaner, longer & non-toxic burn. Each of these classic square jar candles offers up to 50 hours of burn time so they're such excellent value for money. Love Bug is a real sweet treat & would be a sure-fire winner with the one you love. Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to fill your home with all things pink & sparkly and it'd make a wonderful gift for anyone regardless of their relationship status. It's nice to find something that isn't your typical floral scent at this time of year. If you burn this candle on Valentine's Day then love will most definitely be in the air!

Flamingo Candles Cinnamon Appleberry

Flamingo Candles Cinnamon Appleberry Halloween Classic Square Jar Candle* - £12

Halloween is easily my favourite holiday. I've always been drawn to the spooky side of life & it's a whole lot more fun than any other annual occasion. I love dressing up, decorating the house & handing out sweeties to trick or treaters. Rather than going out for a party this year we're just gonna stay in and watch some classic movies. I'm thinking Hocus Pocus, The Craft & Ed Wood. Tonight along with my pumpkins I'll be lighting this limited edition Halloween candle from Flamingo Candles. For Halloween 2014 Flamingo Candles have brought out a special trio of fragrances complete with three spooky colourways to complement your creepy decorations. The three candles available in this range are Aniseed, Orange & Nutmeg and Cinnamon Appleberry which is the one I that have here. The minty green EcoSoya soy wax is the perfect colour match for witchy face paint and the black Florrie flamingo adds to it's ghoulish appearance. The scent of this candle is described as a 'delicious blend of tart, juicy apples and sweet strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries laced with a cinnamon glow'. It's an incredibly yummy & fresh combination. If you're a fan of crisp apple scents then you will absolutely love this candle.

Earlier this month I reviewed Flamingo Candles' Applecurrant Crumble candle and although they're both apple-based scents they couldn't be any more different. Cinnamon Appleberry is a lot sharper & fruitier whereas Applecurrant Crumble was very sweet & comforting. This candle still has a hint of sweetness though which nostalgically reminds me of Atomic Apple flavoured Hubba Bubba and toffee apples, one of my favourite treats at this time of year! The addition of spicy cinnamon is very warming & makes me feel all cosy inside. It'll carry through nicely into the Winter as well as the spiciness is somewhat Christmassy. With up to 50 hours burn time it'll probably last you that long anyway! It has great scent throw which beautifully fills the room. I really like that these organic hand-poured candles use soy wax and natural cotton wicks as they burn very cleanly. They won't leave any random bits of soot around your home & they're non-toxic so they're much better for you as well.

Although this candle is from the Halloween collection there's nothing stopping you from burning it at any time. Cinnamon Appleberry is another wonderfully Autumnal scent from Flamingo Candles & would make a lovely accompaniment to any cold dark night. I'm not sure how much longer the Halloween collection will be available for so I would suggest ordering soon to avoid disappointment. Happy Halloween everyone!

Flamingo Candles Applecurrant Crumble

Flamingo Candles Applecurrant Crumble Classic Square Jar Candle* - £12

With all the dreary Autumn weather we've been having recently there's nothing better than wrapping yourself up warm, relaxing with a hot drink & indulging in the scent of a fresh new candle. Flamingo Candles clearly know the way to my heart and a few weeks ago they sent me one of the new fragrances from their current Autumn/Winter collection, Applecurrant Crumble. If apple pie is the quintessential American dessert then apple crumble is surely ours. That's why Applecurrant Crumble couldn't be a more apt candle for the British Autumn season. The scent is described as a 'delicious blend of warm apple puree and brown sugar highlighted by fruity notes of raisin, rich plum and lemon peel. All of this is covered with a golden topping of all-butter pastry crumble'. It fills your home with a realistic scent of freshly baked crumble which never fails to make me feel hungry! It smells sweet & comforting with a luscious blend of fruit. I much prefer this kind of scent to the spicier offerings we normally get around this time of year. I've amassed quite a few Flamingo Candles now but this is definitely my favourite out of all of them. The Applecurrant Crumble candle actually reminds me of one they bought out last year, Toasted Almonds & Plum Crumble, but this one is even more powerfully scented & the apples give it a scrumptious tangy twist. It beautifully captures the essence of Autumn. This candle is a real olfactory treat & I simply can't get enough of it!

Flamingo Candles are easily one of my favourite candle brands. Not only do they have an ever expanding range of divine scents, all of their products are handmade & organic to boot. They are made from EcoSoya soy wax and feature a natural cotton wick so you get a clean, non-toxic burn. They're environmentally-friendly too. Each of these classic square jar candles offers up to 50 hours of burn time which is so impressive considering their size & price. One of the things I like best about these candles is their super cute packaging. They look amazing on top of my fireplace & dotted around my bedroom. Applecurrant Crumble comes with a pretty pastel green wax & a gold acrylic Florrie flamingo on the front. It looks adorable & smells truly incredible, what more could you want from a candle?

Flamingo Candles Peach Splash

Flamingo Candles Peach Splash Classic Square Jar Candle* - £12

In general I tend to think of candles as more of an Autumn/Winter thing. However when companies like Flamingo Candles bring out gorgeous arrays of Summery scents there's no reason why you can't burn some all year round. I've waxed lyrical (ho ho!) about their candles several times before. Their range of fragrances is amazing & each scent completely fills the room. Plus their square jar packaging looks so unique & those acrylic flamingos that adorn each candle are too darn cute. I used to be really into collecting Yankee Candles until the paraffin wax starting giving me headaches. I've since replaced all of them with Flamingo Candles as they are made using EcoSoya soy wax. Many consider soy wax to be one of the hardest waxes to attain a good scent throw from but Flamingo Candles have no problems in that area. They also feature a natural cotton wick which provides you with a cleaner, longer & non-toxic burn. Each of these classic square jar candles offers up to 50 hours of burn time. As you can see I've amassed quite the collection. They look so pretty on my mantlepiece & they last for absolutely ages.

For Spring/Summer 2014 Flamingo Candles brought out five fresh new fragrances. The collection encapsulates all the scents that we associate with the current season. The candles available in this range are Orange, Mandarin & Basil, Green Tea & Lemon, Pomegranate & White Fig, Cucumber & Melon and Peach Splash which is the one I that have here. The scent of this candle is described as a 'complex & full modern accord with notes of green leaf and sweet peach next to violet, rose, lily, jasmine, amber & warming patchouli'. It's a very fresh & floral scent experience which is perfect for perking up your house during the Summer. I was expecting it to be a bit peachier to be honest. In the jar it smells very fruity but when it's burning I can mainly detect notes of lily & jasmine. I really enjoy the light & uplifting aroma it offers. Whenever I burn it I end up craving some peach green tea, delish! I just adore this Summery candle. Flamingo Candles are such good quality yet incredibly purse friendly, I can't recommend them enough. Are you a fan of Flamingo Candles?

Flamingo Candles Love Potion

Flamingo Candles Love Potion Glitter Valentine Candle* - £13

I can't say I'm that into Valentine's Day. I think you should show your affection for someone every day of the year. That being said, I will get upset if I don't get at least a card haha. I love anything with hearts on it so instead I look forward to Valentine's Day because all the shops are filled with lots of lovely heart motif items. I'm slightly candle obsessed so I was overjoyed when this beautiful glittery pink jar popped through my door. I've mentioned my love for Flamingo Candles a few times before. These EcoSoya soy wax candles feature a natural cotton wick which provides you with a cleaner, longer & non-toxic burn. They're a great alternative to paraffin wax candles. Not only that but every single one I own smells absolutely gorgeous.

For Valentine's Day Flamingo Candles have brought out a special Love Potion candle. The scent is a sugary sweet mixture of candy, vanilla & pear. I found it a little bit sickly in the jar but once lit it promptly delivers a wonderful sweet & fruity fragrance all around the room. It's just like being in a sweet shop! I can detect some muskiness too which makes it a little bit sexy. It is the perfect Valentine’s candle. One area where Flamingo Candles really excel over other soy candle brands is scent throw, they really know how to fill a room. Each of the classic square jar candles offers 50 hours burn time which is just brilliant for the price.

The jars from their regular candle collection are insanely cute with their colourful waxes & plastic flamingos. Love Potion is even more adorable because of the little heart in the middle of the flamingo! They've also added some pink glitter particles to the soy wax. Once lit the melted wax turns bright pink & super glittery. It looks incredible! Anything pink & sparkly is guaranteed to be good. I loved the sweet scent of Love Potion so I'll definitely be buying some of their new Candy Shop candles too. Pear Drops sounds lush, I do love a good old pear Kopparberg or two!

Christmas Presents

Polar FT4 Watch
2014 is gonna be the year that I get properly fit. I know I say that every year but I actually have time to go to the gym now that Chloe's at preschool. I'll be able to do the 30 Day Shred without having a toddler trying to sit on me or pick up my hand weights! I was using my Fitbit to track my calorie burn but it broke a few months ago. So for my main present this year I asked for a Polar watch. They're a lot more accurate because they measure your heart rate. I know a lot of people rave about these so I figured it'd be a good piece of fitness equipment to get. Can't wait to get back to doing regular exercise & lose all those pesky Christmas pounds.

Smythson Places To Remember Notebook
My mum also bought me this Smythson notebook for writing down places to visit. It'll be good to take on holiday to note down all the shops & restaurants I want to go to. I remember making a mega list when we went to New York. If only we could go back again!

Nail Art Bits & Shimmer Sprays
My sister bought me some sparkly Maybelline nail polishes & Barry M nail art pens. I'm excited to try out the nail polish corrector pen because I always mess up my nails. I really like these shimmer powder sprays she got me from The Body Shop too. They puff out a fine pink glitter that you can use on your face, hair & body and have a slightly sweet scent.

Boux Avenue Lingerie
I literally always ask my boyfriend for lingerie and Boux Avenue's stuff is just the best. Everything in there is so comfortable & flattering. He got me this gorgeous hot pink underwear set & I really love what he chose. I'm still tempted to raid their sale though!

Flamingo Candles
I'm obsessed with their Cheesecake Crunch candle so I made sure I popped a few more onto my Christmas list. I got Toasted Almonds & Plum Crumble, Tropical Coconut Milk & Honey and Pink Lemonade. They all smell insanely good and they're made from soy wax so you get a nice clean burn with these.

The Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
My pink 3DS XL is probably the best thing I've bought this year. I play on it constantly! The Legend Of Zelda series is one of my favourites so I really wanted A Link Between Worlds. It's a sequel to A Link To The Past on the SNES and it's such a good game. Link gets turned into a painting so you gain the ability to move flat along walls. It definitely makes the game mechanics more interesting & I've really enjoyed playing it so far.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette & MAC Goodies
I got money & gift vouchers from most of my relatives so with those I simply had to buy myself the Naked 3 Palette. I love pink eyeshadows so I thought this was a great set to buy. Plus I needed to complete my Naked Palette family of course ;) I also made a cheeky MAC order where I got Groundwork Paint Pot and a 214 brush. The shape of the 214 is really cool & perfect for smudging colour under your lashline. I got a sample tube of Strobe Cream with my order which is another product I love.

Epic Space.NK Haul
All of this was a Christmas gift to myself. Sometimes you just gotta treat yo'self! I wouldn't have spent so much but Space.NK had an amazing offer last month where if you spent £150 you got a goodie bag with loads of stuff in it including a Diptyque candle & a £50 gift voucher. Way too good to pass up, right? I decided to buy a fullsize bottle of the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, their Arch Eyebrow Pencil and another one of the Ambient Lighting Powders in Diffused Light. I also got the Diptyque Mimosa room spray because it smells incredible. With the £50 voucher in the goodie bag I bought the By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder, Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray and some of the Bumble & Bumble Thickening products. Everything else here was in the goodie bag. The only thing I let myself play with before Christmas was the Hourglass Arch Eyebrow Pencil which took a lot of willpower. I love it all though, I'm in beauty product heaven right now. I've had to ban myself from Space.NK because this was really really naughty!

I'm so grateful for everything I received this year. I got some really lovely bits & bobs. It's more important to give than receive when you're a parent though. It was far more satisfying watching Chloe open all her new toys & seeing the joy on her face. Kids really make Christmas special again. I hope you all had a brilliant Christmas & got some nice presents too. Feel free to link me to your posts because I love seeing what other people got for Christmas!

Flamingo Candles Cheesecake Crunch

Flamingo Candles Cheesecake Crunch Classic Square Jar Candle* - £12

This is the time of year when I go a little bit candle crazy. I always have to have at least one burning every night. I've recently fallen in love with these adorable little jar candles from Flamingo Candles. They're a fresh British company who create handmade organic candles. Here I have one of their classic square jar candles in Cheesecake Crunch. The scent of this one is described as a 'luscious medley of brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa, maple, walnut, citrus & caramel' and it sure is delicious!

First of all I absolutely adore how these candles look. The jar, lid, colourful wax and plastic flamingo are such a cute combo. The flamingo on Cheesecake Crunch is a gold glitter one which is a bit of a Brucey bonus! My spirit animal perhaps? This candle smells truly incredible and has that kind of biscuity note that really does remind me of cheesecake. It's sweet, comforting, cosy & warming - everything you could want on an Autumn night. It is quite similar to the Vanilla Cupcake Yankee Candle which I also love. The scent quickly fills the room & it's sweet but not at all sickly. Each of the classic square jar candles offers 50 hours burn time at a very purse friendly price. The candle is made from EcoSoya soy wax and features a natural cotton wick resulting in a cleaner, longer & non-toxic burn. Some of my paraffin wax candles have been making me a feel a bit ill lately so I'm thinking of switching to just burning soy candles. Flamingo Candles are a brilliant choice if you've had similar problems with other candle brands.

As well as their amazing range of unique scents (Pomegranate cider? Yum!), Flamingo Candles also have some utterly delicious sounding Christmas candles available. I always end up buying loads of seasonal candles so I'll definitely be picking up the Toasted Almonds & Plum Crumble and Black Cherry Gluhwein candles. They'll make lovely presents too. I just can't resist those sparkly flamingos!
