Dolly & Dotty

Dress - Dolly & Dotty* / Jacket - Primark / Shoes - Office / Necklace - Mhoho Jewellery*

Vintage fashion is something that I have always loved to look at but I've never really felt that I could pull it off myself. I used to spend hours trawling through vintage stores in London but it was rare that I ever came away with anything other than accessories. My favourite eras for fashion are the 1950's (rockabilly), 60's (mod) & 80's (new romantic). It's such a shame that our current fashion styles will never be remembered with the same fondness that we have for past decades. I never had much luck with finding real vintage clothing but luckily there are now quite a few clothing brands that take inspiration from these old styles & make vintage fashion accessible to everyone. Dolly & Dotty specialise in vintage inspired clothing with a modern flattering fit. Their range of dresses is insane with tons of different retro styles in every colour & pattern you could possibly imagine. Their clothing comes in size 6-24 which is lovely to see, especially from a smaller brand. All of their dresses are designed in Brighton by their in-house design team. They kindly offered to send me one of their dresses & I figured this would be the ideal time to see if I could actually rock a 1950's swing dress.

This is the Sophie rockabilly 1950's style dress in white with black polka dots. They don't seem to do this exact colour way anymore but you can get it with a black belt & halter neck tie instead. This dress is unlike anything I've ever worn before so I wasn't quite sure how to style it. I decided to wear it with my Primark leather jacket & some T-bar wedges. I actually took these photos a little while ago so tights were definitely needed that day but it does look better with bare legs. It'll be perfect for the Summertime! This retro dress is made from soft cotton, features an elasticated back & fastens with a concealed zip. It's a little bit too long for my taste as I think this style makes me look shorter than I really am even though I'm wearing heels. Plus I like to show off my legs! I either need to get the hem taken up a bit or buy a tulle petticoat to give this dress that perfect 50's silhouette. Otherwise the cut of this dress is very figure flattering & definitely enhances my curves. I absolutely adore the sweetheart neckline! I wish they were easier to find on the high street. I hardly ever wear halter neck tops but this feels very comfortable & the tie doesn't come undone throughout the day. The Sophie dress is so beautiful that I didn't feel overly self-conscious about exposing my arms & back for once! No 1950's vintage look would be complete without some winged eyeliner & red lipstick. I'm wearing Magnetic Melon* by Saturated Colour which is super bright & makes me feel fabulous!

Spring Flowers

Dress - Chi Chi* / Shoes - Office / Necklace - Le Chou Chou Bijoux* / Bracelet - Black Tied / Ring - Regal Rose

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive this beautiful dress from Chi Chi. They make some uber-glam dresses that I would only really consider wearing for a party or special occasion. I'm rather pleased to see that they've added a few more day dresses to their collection like this Daisy dress. It's still incredibly glamorous but I wouldn't feel completely overdressed wearing this on a day out paired with a leather jacket. The embroidered lace flowers & diamante detail on the bodice are ever so pretty. I love the floaty skirt, it's a sweet shade of pale pink & the length is just right on me. I can imagine myself wearing this a lot during the Summer. I can't wait to crack out all my girly dresses again & blind everyone with my pasty legs!

Peachy Keen

Blouse - Goldie* / Pinafore - Topshop / Wedges - Office
Bracelets - Black Tied, Ginger Pickle* / Rings - Regal Rose, Kukee, The Bohemian Collective

I cannot tell you how happy I am with this pinafore from Topshop! I'd been trying loads of them on in different stores to try and find 'the one' but most of them just made me look frumpy. Although I was hesitant about it being made from corduroy this one has the most perfect shape & is very flattering. I've hardly taken it off this month as I just love it so much. Yesterday I paired it with this beautiful peachy blouse from Goldie. I don't think I'll ever get fed up of shirts with embellished collars. The clear gems look so pretty and add a nice bit of sparkle to an otherwise plain outfit. Not sure why my tights look blue but they're definitely black, I assure you haha. I wore this with my t-bar wedges from Office. I bought these years ago but they're still one of my most worn pairs of heels. They make me so much taller without killing my feet.

I wore this yesterday when I went to Birstall to pick up a few knick knacks for the house & a (very naughty) trip to the Krispy Kreme drive thru. There's nothing I want more right now than to redecorate my hideous bedroom but as I live in a rented house I can't really do anything to it or get rid of any of the furniture. All of you bloggers with nice bedrooms & dressing tables are making me incredibly jealous! So to make up for it I just got a few decorative things to organise all my stuff a bit better. Maybe then I'll be able to give you all a sneaky peak at my makeup & jewellery collections. But I think I'll have to change my walls from disgusting orange to white before I do!

Object Of Desire: Shoes

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

Shoes are something I always covet. Like most other girls, no matter how many pairs I own I always want more. Unless you're buying from Primark all the time they can get pretty expensive so heres a list of some of the ones I'm lusting after at the minute. Hopefully I'll be able to resist buying them all!

01. I went to Leeds the other day and couldn't resist nipping into the awesome new Topshop there. Almost every sales assistant was wearing these heels & they look bloody amazing in real life. I'm sure the staff discount definitely lessens the pain of the £85(!) price tag.

02. Victoria posted about these in one of her recent eBay posts & it was love at first sight. I love chunky black boots & the buckle detail looks so cool. They look like something you'd find in Topshop for 80 odd quid but these are only £27 including postage! I can definitely see myself ordering a pair of these.

03. Jeffery Campbell make some absolutely stunning shoes. I'd love to get my hands on some Litas but they're way out of my price range. These have been reduced to a more reasonable £55 in the sale and would look killer on a night out.

04. I may have already ordered these gorgeous studded flats from Barratts! I really like that they have both gold spikes & crystal gems. I like a lot of embellishment on my shoes so these definitely fit the bill.

05. The studded platform on these Topshop shoes looks so cool. I've drooled over these instore and they seem like they would be fairly easy to walk in despite the massive heel.

06. I recently bought Chloe a pair of yellow Hunter wellies & they look so cute on her! Its made me really tempted to invest in my own pair but in the more classic glossy black colour.

07. I really love these nude suede shoes from Republic. I wear a lot of black clothes so I think its nice to wear something contrasting on my feet. I like the chunky heel & the big platform makes them look like they'd be really comfy. Perfect for dancing all night long in.

08. I'd love to get my hands on any of the Vivienne Westwood x Melissa shoes but these are such a nice colour & are exactly the kind of thing I go for during the day.
