Age Of Innocence

Shirt - Urban Outfitters / Dress - The Whitepepper / Shoes - Topshop
Necklace - Urban Outfitters / Nail Ring - Choies* / Watch - Michael Kors

A couple of weeks ago I went to my niece's christening and this is what I wore. I never normally go to church so I had no idea what to wear but I figured everyone else would be dressing up. It was the ideal occasion to debut one of my latest purchases from The Whitepepper. I had my eye on this dress for ages and then it went down to £25 in a flash sale so I snapped it up immediately. It's very oversized so I ended up with size XS which fits me perfectly. I really love the frilly armholes & I think it looks great with a white shirt underneath. I feel like a Victorian child in this outfit or like I work at a Japanese maid cafe, if only! I adore this little black cat nail ring I got from Choies too, so cute!

Anyone Who Had A Heart

Jacket - Warehouse* / Shirt - Urban Outfitters / Skirt - H&M / Shoes - eBay / Bag - Whistles
Necklace - Urban Outfitters / Watch - Shore Projects* / Ring - Urban Outfitters

This is probably my favourite outfit that I've put together lately. It's a little smarter than what I would normally wear but still with a few cutesy things thrown into the mix. This soft pink jacket from Warehouse is such a great transitional piece. I'm not ready to don a Winter coat yet so a light jacket like this one is perfect for the current weather. It's very comfy & casual yet helps to dress up an outfit. I'm so glad that I've finally found a nice jacket without shoulder pads because god knows I'm broad enough as it is! I got this blouse from Urban Outfitters last year, it has the cutest crochet collar! Whenever I want a shirt with a pretty collar, UO is the first place I look. This H&M skirt is quite old too but it's still a firm favourite in my wardrobe. I've gone a bit shoe mad lately & bought these Charlotte Olympia kitty flat knockoffs from eBay. I don't think I could ever blow £500 on a pair of shoes no matter how cute they are so I'm quite happy with these dupes. They were only about £8! Although they look amazing, they smell revolting. I got them a few weeks ago but I've not really been able to wear them until now because they just had such a bad chemical scent. They're okay now that I've aired them out though, just beware if you're planning on buying some!

I wore this outfit on Friday to a Macmillan coffee morning. I am definitely not the kind of person who goes to regular coffee mornings as they are basically my idea of hell. It wasn't too bad though as I got talking to some mums from Chloe's new school & it was all for a good cause anyway. I'm trying to spend as little time in the house as possible at the minute as we currently have some wasps living in our ceiling lights! There's a nest next door but the neighbours won't get it treated as it's supposed to be the end of wasp season, ugh. They have been driving me crazy for months & I am starting to question my sanity(!) Filling my living room with Raid every day certainly isn't helping matters. It's been so hard to get any blog posts done as I'm having to kill wasps in between taking photos. So if the quality of my blog has taken a nosedive recently I'm really sorry & hopefully the wasps will leave me alone soon!

Thru The Eyes Of Ruby

Dress - Poppy Lux* / Boots - Dr Martens / Sunglasses - London Retro* / Necklace - Urban Outfitters / Bracelet - H&M

Tomorrow is September 1st which pretty much means that Summer is now over. I've gotta admit I'm kinda looking forward to Autumn. I've already started to reorganise my wardrobe for the coming seasons & can't wait to start layering up again. I think that this adorable Heidi smock shirt dress from Poppy Lux is a brilliant transitional piece. Smock dresses are my fave at the minute as the shape hides a multitude of sins. This one has nice fit to it but I forgot that smock dresses are always oversized when I ordered it so it's a bit big on me. I don't mind though as it's very comfy & casual. I adore the ditsy floral print on it too. I tried to make it look a bit grungier to fit in with the current 90s fashion trend. I've always been inspired by the way that Courtney Love would wear clunky black boots with cute dresses. I'm still very much in love with my patent Dr Martens. I got them when I visited New York where they were on sale for just $50! I was recently sent a pair of London Retro sunglasses from Glasses Direct. These are the antique gold Sweeney frames. I love their round Lennonesque style, they're so very 90s. I thought they would go well with my grunge inspired outfit. Are you a fan of 90s fashion?

Shake It Off

Blouse - Urban Outfitters / Shorts - American Apparel / Socks - Topshop / Shoes - JuJu Jellies / Necklace - Urban Outfitters / Watch - Michael Kors / Bracelet - Alexander McQueen* / Backpack - LYDC*

Anyone else unashamedly obsessed with Taylor Swift's new song? I haven't been able to stop singing it all day long! If only I looked as cute as she does in the video. I wore this outfit yesterday as the weather was finally warm enough for shorts again. I bought these high-waisted ones from American Apparel last month. Their shorts always seem to fit me a lot better than ones from other stores. They're really expensive for what they are but luckily I had a 30% discount code. I also got their watermelon shorts as I just couldn't resist! I paired them with this lovely lace collar blouse from Cooperative at Urban Outfitters. Cooperative are probably my favourite UO exclusive brand, I basically want everything they make! I'm trying to make the most of my JuJu Jellies before I inevitably have to retire them for the coming seasons. It doesn't matter how many Jesus sandals comments I get, I still love how they look with frilly socks.

I think this would be a really sweet back to school look, especially with this amazing Holland Park backpack from LYDC. I've wanted one like this for ages! It reminds me of the ones that Japanese school kids wear, I've always thought they looked much better than the slouchy kind. It's such a great size, I've been using mine to carry about all my camera equipment. Everything fits in there easily & feels very secure. I'm also absolutely loving this gorgeous Alexander McQueen leather wrap bracelet from Harvey Nichols. I can't get enough of gold hardware & this is such a cool piece of jewellery. It encompasses McQueen's rebellious attitude & adds a tough-luxe accent to my outfit. I normally go for black & gold together so the white leather makes a nice change for me.

Summer Stylin'

Jumpsuit - George* / Denim Jacket - George* / Sandals - eBay / Necklaces - Kukee & Urban Outfitters

During the Summer I get stuck in a cycle of pretty dresses & denim shorts. In an effort to shake up my Summer wardrobe I decided to take part in George at Asda's Summer style challenge. I chose a couple of pieces from their new collection & threw an outfit together. I love wearing short playsuits but I'd never actually tried a full jumpsuit before. I'm only 5'4" so most jumpsuits are far too long for me. This one is the perfect length & it is so incredibly comfortable. I feel as if I'm just wearing my pyjamas! I wear a lot of monochrome clothing so this pattern fits in quite well with my normal style. The material is thin & loose so it's perfect for hot days like today. I never thought I'd be able to pull off a jumpsuit but this one might have convinced me otherwise.

My wardrobe has been lacking a decent denim jacket and this one fills that gap nicely. It's very lightweight, soft & stretchy. I think it's a great colour too. I hardly ever wear jackets in the Summer but denim ones are light enough to slip over a dress without making you too hot. I sometimes get a bit self-conscious of showing my arms so a denim jacket is a good investment if you've got bingo wings like me. I'm obsessed with my new chunky gladiator sandals & thought they would go well with the jumpsuit. Loads of shops who stock wholesale clothes such as Ark, Boohoo & Lavish Alice have these exact ones on their website but as usual you can find some of their items cheaper on eBay. I love how they look with my neon pink pedicure. These are actually pretty comfortable too, chunky heels are always so much easier to walk in. As the jumpsuit has quite a busy pattern I decided to wear minimal accessories. I simply finished off the outfit with a couple of silver cross necklaces. I'm so ready for Summery weather & fashion, if only the random deluges would stop now!

Fall At Your Feet

Dress - Urban Outfitters / Jacket - Primark / Shoes - Vans / Necklace - Notonthehighstreet* / Bracelet - H&M
Rings - Topshop / Watch - Michael Kors / Brooches - Helpless Romantic & Stolen Thunder

Last Sunday I travelled down to Sheffield for an event I've been waiting ten whole years for - MCBUSTED. In all honestly I probably haven't listened to either Busted or McFly during that time but both bands will always hold a very special place in my heart. I'm sure I've mentioned my teenage stalking of them many times before. I even went to see James' musical Loserville in Leeds a couple of years ago. Nothing can compare to seeing them all live on stage together again though. Gotta admit, I did miss Charlie a teeny tiny bit but the show was completely amazing! They played so many good songs & I was happy that the ratio of Busted to McFly songs was in the former's favour. I especially liked the UFO performances because it was right near our seats. I had such a blast & I cannot wait for the much promised McBusted album. I was quite tempted to get a tour book but I ended up just getting a wristband from the merch stand because I spent most of my money on booze. £15 for 3 drinks?! I thought we were in Yorkshire!

So this what I wore for the concert. I spotted this dress in Urban Outfitters in Leeds a couple of weeks ago & snapped it up right away. I loved the combo of different sized gingham patterns & the collar adds such a cool 60s vibe to it. I go through phases of loving everything in Urban Outfitters & then not liking a single thing. At the moment I want so many things from there. I found this dress by Little White Lies on their website that Kay Hanley from Letters To Cleo wore on an episode of Parks & Rec. It's such an adorable vintage style Summer dress that's a bit 90s Courtney Love-esque. I'd best get saving my pennies for it! The Sheffield Motorpoint Arena was absolutely boiling inside so I'm glad I only took my thin leather jacket from Primark. This is one of my favourite items of clothing ever. It only cost me £10 & I've had it for yeeeeears. I decided to wear my Vans because I wanted to be comfy with all the dancing & jumping about. I'm pretty sure I spent most of the concert jumping up & down. It wouldn't have been right if I hadn't done a Busted-style jump or two!

Daisy Daisy

Dress - Lashes Of London* / Belt - Urban Outfitters / Shoes - Topshop / Socks - Topshop
Headband - Primark / Necklace - Primark / Bracelet - H&M

Couldn't resist yet another neon outfit! Along with pinafores its definitely my favourite fashion trend so far this year. This dress is from Lashes Of London and is so perfect for Spring. Underneath the girly white embroidered exterior lies a bright neon yellow layer which gives it a nice twist. Its quite loose fitting so wearing a belt with it is essential but I really like the smock shape. Its really comfy too so I'm sure I'll be wearing it all the time when the weather picks up a bit. I paired it with a really old floral headband from Primark & my Topshop Kerb2 T-bar shoes. I've been looking forward to putting these shoes on again for ages, they're my fave Spring/Summer pair. I feel like a bit of a schizophrenic when it comes to fashion. Sometimes I just wear a variation of black jeans, boots & a shirt for weeks on end and other times I can't get enough of super girly dresses. At the minute I'm completely embracing that school girl vibe. I even ordered this pinafore from Topshop last night. Maybe having to dress a toddler is rubbing off on my own fashion sense!

After years of doing outfit photos from my knees up and separate shots of my shoes, I've finally found a setup that lets me get in a full body shot. The lighting is a bit rubbish and makes my face look about ten shades darker than my legs but they are the same colour really! Do you prefer this format? I think it gives a better look at my whole outfit so I think I'm gonna try to do my photos like this from now on.

Dreaming Of Another World

Vest - Primark / Top - Warehouse / Disco Pants - American Apparel / Jacket - H&M / Scarf - eBay
Necklace - Urban Outfitters / Ring - Regal Rose / Bracelet - H&M / Watch - Michael Kors

Today I wore this outfit for a quick trip to the post office & a mooch round the shops after Rhyme Time at the library. I got this lovely peter pan collar lace top from Warehouse about five years ago and its something I've never wanted to part with. Its so pretty & jazzes up any otherwise plain outfit. I probably shouldn't wear tight high waisted trousers as they just accentuate my huge hips but I still wear my Disco Pants all the time. I bought this little denim biker jacket from H&M last week. I just thought it was cute and makes a nice change from my leather jackets.

If I look a bit moody in these pictures its because my camera was refusing to focus today. All of the functions are controlled via touch screen rather than buttons so I think some settings got changed by accident! I've not really been up to much lately either. I spent pretty much all of last week packing up and posting the forty items I sold on eBay. I ended up making over £300 by selling my old camera, clothes & shoes so I think it was worth all the hours of hell. I did get worried about making a profit after spending over £130 just on postage but luckily it all paid off. Its a pain listing everything rather than putting stuff up on a blogsale but at least you can be sure that things will sell right away, even if its only for 99p. The rest of the time I've been marathoning every season of Rupaul's Drag Race. I am so obsessed with it. I wish I could be as half as fabulous as these fierce fishy queens. I kinda fancy trying out a drag makeup look, is that weird? I have so much respect for their extreme contouring skills. I even got up early today so I could watch the episode shown in America last night. Does anyone else watch it? I'm backing Jinkx Monsoon to win this season. She was brilliant as Little Edie!

Everything Is Embarrassing

Top - Lovestruck* / Skirt - American Apparel / Dress - Topshop / Headband - Crown & Glory
Necklace - Urban Outfitters / Bracelet - Black Tied / Rings - The Bohemian Collective

On Friday my mum & sister came up to York for the day so Chloe & I decided to tag along for their visit. I'd only ever been to York once before & that was for my epic failure of a 21st birthday where my friends took me to the National Railway Museum because there was nothing else to do on a Sunday! So it was nice to come again when there was more exciting things going on. We went on a long walk around all the shops & festive fayre before chowing down on a huge meal at Wagamama. I taught Chloe how to use chopsticks & she actually managed to pick up her gyoza & individual grains of rice with them! After the meal she even had a little babyccino, so cute!

I wore this outfit but underneath a million different layers of course. I swear this seems like the coldest Winter ever, I used to walk to school everyday without tights at this time of year but now I freeze the instant I step outside. I was sent this gorgeous top by Lovestruck. Isn't the pearl collar detailing just the cutest? I paired it with this baby pink corduroy skirt from American Apparel. Its ridiculously short so I wore a Topshop skater dress underneath. I actually really like the kinda two layer skirt effect, it definitely kept me a lot warmer too. One of my favourite hair accessories is my cream Whole Lotta Rosie floral headband from Crown & Glory. I decided I also needed the black version after seeing how awesome it looked on Robyn. So jel of her long hair too! Thats the one of the bad things about bleaching your hair to death, as soon as it grows you have to get it cut again. I'm really tempted to order a wig from Lockshop. It'd be pretty cool to have long brown hair again after all this time. I wanted to dye my hair mint green but I'm having trouble figuring out which dyes to dilute to get the colour I want, a minty wig could be the easy way out. I'm a bit worried they'd look completely fake though!

Monster Hospital

Shirt - Topshop / Skirt - Topshop / Belt - Urban Outfitters / Necklace - Topshop / Rings - Galibardy + Me & Zena

This is what I wore yesterday to run some errands. Sorting out adult stuff is horrendously boring. I was even on hold to NPower for 2 hours before they hung up on me. It was such a FML moment. Hopefully most of that stuff is sorted now because this has been such a boring week. Looking forward to doing some more exciting things next week. Leeds Christkindelmarkt starts tonight so I can't wait to go. They do this amazing Bavarian dumpling filled with plum jam and smothered in vanilla custard that I gorge on every year. Totally wish I had one right now!

My shirt, skirt and belt are all recent acquisitions. This shirt is amazing because it just goes with everything. My favourite part of my outfit is the cross belt from Urban Outfitters. I want to wear it every day! I really love the Model's Own Mirrorball collection. Here I'm wearing Disco Inferno on top of Stargazer 504 which is a lovely peachy nude. I never used to like glittery nail polishes but I'm definitely feeling the need to pick up the Wonderland collection too!

Autumn Attire

Dress - H&M / Jacket - Primark / Necklaces - Primark & Urban Outfitters

Berry colours are quite possibly my fave Autumn trend. Maroon, burgundy, oxblood, cranberry, whatever you wanna call it, I am obsessed with it. I spotted this lovely dress in H&M and knew it was the perfect piece for Autumn 2012. I think the little leather peter pan collar is such a gorgeous finishing touch. Its probably more of a tunic than a dress though because its ridiculously short! My lipstick is Illamasqua Magnetism, I love that it matches the colour of my dress perfectly. I've been wearing this all the time recently. I love my gold 'C' necklace from Primark too, such a bargain at just £1.50!

I don't normally like to get too personal on my blog posts but I am having what is quite possibly the worst week of my life and keeping things bottled up is only making it worse. On Saturday my fiance of three years decided that he doesn't love me anymore. He took a bin bag full of clothes and moved into his mums house. All my attempts of reconciliation have been put down. I feel sick constantly. I can barely eat or sleep and I've cried all week long. I've wanted to blog to take my mind off things but it was hard to do any outfit or makeup posts with puffy eyes from crying so much. Its bad enough that he's left me but it breaks my heart that he's left Chloe too. Looks like I'm joining the ranks of the single mums. Any tips on how to get over a big breakup? Could really use a hug right now :(
